Rutherford County
Murfreesboro HOA dog waste: new streets, one amenity can, and the real station count
Rutherford County added a lot of HOA streets in a short decade. Many opened with a playground, a mail kiosk, and one dog station. Scooponomics lets that board type the count they have — or the count they want — at $15 per station per week before the next meeting.
The new-construction pattern
A 250–400 home plat off Veterans Parkway or Medical Center Parkway is a different animal from a downtown Nashville condo. Builders often spec a single can at the amenity so the model homes look finished. Residents then walk the pond loop and the Stones River Greenway connector with no bag left on the roll. The complaint shows up as “the landscaper should scoop,” which is how HOA pet waste turns into an unbudgeted labor line.
MTSU-adjacent apartments turn over faster. Dog counts swing with the lease cycle. Type units as homes if that is how you bill, and override dogs when the office has a better census than 0.68 per door. Barfield Crescent and greenway traffic still add visitor waste the unit count never sees — that is a layout problem, not a reason to hide the station field.

Eight stations at $15 a week are $120 weekly and $519.60 a month ($15 × 8 × 4.33). Sixteen would be $240 a week if the board decides the pond loop needs the other half of the map. Neither number is a formal quote. Open the 320-home example and add current spend when you have last month’s invoice.
What Murfreesboro boards usually skip
- Photographing every can, not only the pretty one at the clubhouse.
- Bag use: 0.5–1 roll per station per week. New trails run hot.
- A shared link. Scooponomics keeps stations, spend, homes, and dogs in the URL.
City on the quote form: Murfreesboro (or Smyrna / La Vergne if that is the plat). Gate codes and the current vendor belong in notes.
Hardware after the math
If the amenity can is already cracking, look at Scout Stations for the rotomolded unit, or the Amazon commercial post on the shop section (tag scooponomics-20; Associates disclosure on that page). Layout first — 2 per 40 homes is the start — then buy. The Scooponomics Index gives the newsletter a lb-per-home line when the board is tired of photos of the pond bank.
Doo Doo Blues serves the Nashville area, including Murfreesboro. Scooponomics is the board calculator — same $15 math, then a quote if you want a walk of the property.
